STAR BPKP has been working together with various higher education institutions across the country to organize both non-degree and degree programs in public sector financial management and auditing. The degree programs are specifically tailored by STAR BPKP’s partner universities to improve the quality of the government’s internal auditors and officers in public sector finance; the curriculum was designed to contain an emphasis in internal audit and public sector accounting. Since STAR BPKP first launched the said programs, to date we still see that the advanced degree programs in public sector finance and auditing are still rarely offered by universities in Indonesia; especially, ones which uniquely offer deep insights into the characteristics of public finance and auditing in Indonesia.
One of the factors that contributes to this situation is the lack of lecturers who have strong competencies in the fields. Therefore, STAR BPKP facilitated this short-course and site visit to several institutions in South Korea which was hosted by The Social Sciences Research Institute (SSRI), Chungbuk National University (CBNU). This short course was held on the 7th until the 15th of July 2018 and was attended by 20 participants which consist of 9 lecturers from various universities in Indonesia, 1 participant from The Ministry of Finance, 2 participants from the National Planning Agency, 1 participant the Office of Vice President’s Secretary, and 7 participants from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency.
